I know there has been some confusion in the past about whether dues are voluntary or not; per the covenant- dues are required and have a set due date and 12% penalty for late payment. In the past this was not enforced, which has led to decreased participation resulting in decreased funding. On the other hand, the expectation for the association to continue maintaining the entrances- mowing, lighting and beautification, yard sale signage, plowing in the winter etc. has not changed. 

Dues are $30 per year and we are only receiving 28-30% participation each year, which at this point is not sustainable. We are now spending more money than we are taking in each year and the savings we had is quickly dwindling. How well our neighborhood is maintained reflects in our property values and its overall appeal and desirability.

On a brighter note, we have some neighbors that have generously paid above the $30 requirement, for which we are extremely grateful!
